MEGAN CARTY

Hi, I’m Megan, and now a senior at Edsel Ford. I totally dig just relaxing and hanging out with my friends and boyfriend. I am a very passionate dancer. Since I was in elementary school, I’ve had a love for the arts. I’ve been taking dance classes since third grade and art classes since I was a little tike at Snow Elementary School. After high school I plan on going to a college for the arts. My dream as a little girl was to go to Juilliard for dance, but now I want to go Wayne State. I would like to get into graphic design or advertising.

LITERAL MEANING

WORD DESIGN

AND

The objective of this project was to pick a pair of opposite words and demonstrate the word by either picking a font or creating our own. Specific position and placement also helped to show the meaning of the two words. The picture below shows my ideation for this project.

SHAPE & SPACE

The Shape and Space project was meant to portray organic and geometric shapes using only three lines. It also shows negative and positive space by filling spaces with either a primary or secondary color. The top picture shows the rough draft work I used to create the final project, which is on the bottom.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

We had to design our own waterbottle, thermos, or teapot. I chose to create a waterbottle. Above are some screenshots of my work in progress, but below is my finished work.

POLITICAL POSTER

For this project we had to select a social or economic cause and create a poster for it in Adobe Illustrator

BALANCE PROJECT

View Rough Sketch

The objective of this project was to create a picture that focuses on balance. The theme of my drawing is the crazy nightlife of a city. I created bold drapes of color that wrap around the blue city buildings. This shows the wild and crazy activity. The stars give it the feel of night, which also helped me balance out the drawing.

TWO-POINT PERSPECTIVE

For this project we had to create a "scene" using different forms in two-point perspective. We then had to pick a color scheme and using colored pencils, shade the forms according to the light source we provided.

RHINO PROGRAM

Rhinoceras is a 3-D modeling program. We followed a few of the tutorials and created the duck and the flashlight. The other two models (the poolside and the desk) were assignments  given to us to create.

PRINCESS CASTLE

The objective of this project was to create our castle using a program called Rhino. This helped us to become more familiar with the recently-introduced program. I decided to create a Cinderella-inspired castle.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

We had to create a piece of work that demonstrates visual communication with the use of flat shapes, images, and text.

DEARBORN HILLS

We had to design a new logo for the Dearborn Hills Civic Association using a program, Adobe Illustrator

LOGO WORK

For my final project, I created a logo for Lark Logistics. For this I used Adobe Illustrator.

FACE AND PLACE

This is the finished Face and Place project. First we had to "morph" a photo of a face with an animal or an object. The second part of this is to create a "surreal" background for the face. My theme is things that happen when the moon comes out.

MAGAZINE AD

We had to create a logo and a magazine ad for our water bottle design. We had to consider the demographic that the ad was aiming towards. I created this using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
