Courtney Wagner

*Looks up from her sketchbook*  "Um, hi.... Can I help you?  My name is Courtney Wagner, a Senior at Edsel Ford High School.  I was, in freshman year, the secretary for the FHS Art Club, and a leader of both the FHS Book Club and Harry Potter Club.   Every summer I do Art on the Avenue, a public chalk drawing and art fair, and in my sophomore year helped create the winning design. I work a great deal in Rhino, Blender and Photoshop CS3 in my spare time, along with working in my sketchbook constantly.  I do plenty of "research" with video games, as I plan to go into the storyboarding aspect of Game Art Design.

I plan on attending the Art Institute of Pheonix."

Word Design

On this project, we choose two opposite words and morph them in a way to convey them in their literal meaning.  My words, Lazy and Hyper, are placed in very subtle ways.  Lazy is shown as the rest of the letters (a, z, and y) are resting on the L, to tired or unwilling to move from their spot.  Hyper is everywhere, the word itself spiraling into a point of extreme chaos.

Line Design

This project directed us to create 6 well planned designs, 3 organic and 3 geometric, and place them together in a grid.  The organic design was to be made of only secondary or intermediate colors, while the geometric had to be only primary colors.  While the designs were different, they had to be similar enough to look well together.  This project was created to introduce Adobe Illistrator.

Face And Place

This was an idea to mutate a human figure with an animal, in my case, a red fox.  The background was to be surreal, to match the forground.

Graphic Design

This design was created based on an asignment to create an artwork that was concidered "graphic" (it uses words and simple images).  My design was created to exemplify an idea of a rave with its bright kandi and glowsticks.

Political Poster

This project was to create a poster based on a current political topic.  My choice was verbal abuse, which is shown by the hurtful words accross her face, and the large bruise that they cover (along with the pain on her face).

Tutorial Works

These were simply practice tutorials that were counted a class grades.  They helped introduce us to Rhino.

Desk Render

The project was to measure and render a drawing desk that was found here at the MBCC.  After careful measurements, and re-measurments, the desk was created in Rhinoceros (a 3d modeling program that is good for more fundemental shapes).  However, seeing I had completed early, for my desk, i created an entire room.

WaterBottle Design

This project was created to tempt our designing mind.  we were to create an object (be it a waterbottle, tea-pot, or coffee mug) and redisgn the basic concept to make it more appealing.  My design was centered around teenagers and it fuses the concept of water being "The bomb".

Practice Render

Our assignment was to create something that used most skills learned in basic Rhino tutorials.  I created an Alchemist's Lab and a castle, where many tools are aparent.

Observation

These were life drawings I worked on in my spare time.

Book Cover Contest

This was a contest to create a artwork for a book cover according to the specifications of the author.

Acrylic Art

This artwork was a personal project based on the fighting elements of Fire and Water.  The second is an abstract version of a willow tree.

Water Color Practices

These works were my first experiences with water color.
