Dearborn students are in the process of choosing their classes next year. At MBCC we offer many courses for students interested in the Health Sciences/Medical Careers.
Our most popular course at MBCC is Allied Health. Designed as an introduction to ALL Health Science/Medical Careers, this two hour, full year course focuses on the foundation knowledge and skills necessary for success in the medical field. Topics covered include medical terminology, ethics and legal considerations, health and safety for healthcare providers, anatomy and physiology and career exploration. Students also participate in a wide variety of hands-on activities including their First Aid and CPR/AED certification, gloving and universal precautions, vital signs (pulse, respiration, temperature and blood pressure) as well as exposure to variety of medical labs, imaging and diagnostic tools. Students also participate in Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), where they can use what they learn in class to compete against students from other schools from across the region, state and country.
