Pre Education at MBCC
The Pre Education (Future Educators) program at MBCC is a two year program, with an elective third year with dual-enrolled college education program prerequisite courses. First year students take Pre Education Foundations semester 1 (two hour block) and Pre Education Skills second semester (two hour block). After successful completion of year one, students may take Pre Education Placement year two (one hour or two hour block).
The Pre Education Placement course offers training and examination in the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue an entry-level career in education, or to attend college and earn a degree in the field of education. Emphasis is placed on college-prerequisite knowledge and career-ready skills such as: lesson planning, public speaking, and working with diverse learners. Successful* completion of the two year program will allow students to apply for articulated college credit!
Year One (Pre Education Foundations and Pre Education Skills) is graded on a traditional 4.0 scale. Year Two (Pre Education Placement) is graded on a 5.0 scale just like advanced placement courses.
